Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Pegolotti.
Nice to meet you Anne! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I was born and raised in France, Quimper (Brittany), and studied in France at the University of Brest and then at the University of Paris 10. Then I moved to the USA (California) in 2000 with my husband and my 3 children.
Tell us about your art and the inspiration behind it.
My passion is to give movement and vibrant colors in my paintings whether it is abstract or figurative. I also have a predilection for red and turquoise, and use those colors to create dramatic and luminous effects.
Being a native of Brittany, the western peninsula of France, the ocean and its changing colors are a big part of my inspiration. I have always been fascinated by painters like Gauguin, who were able to capture the aspect of light of this part of France.
I use acrylic and love working with textures, unmixed colors, using a brush and sometimes a palette knife to give something to imagine and dream. Lines and colors can express an emotion, a sensation, beyond the painting itself.
I try to keep the open-mindedness of children. They are imaginative and sensitive to the mystery and the beauty of the world.
Any news you want us to know about?
Three of my paintings have been published in the annual American Artwork magazine in 2021 and 2023!
